Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary
and Tiger Reserve, Thekkady
The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is spread across
777 sq. km, of which 360 sq. km is thick evergreen forest,
is situated on the banks of the Periyar Lake – an artificial
lake at Thekkady. The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary was declared
a Tiger Reserve in 1978, noted for its diversity of wildlife
and scenic beauty, the Reserve attracts visitors from all
over the world. Here in this evergreen forest roam herds
of Elephants, Samabars, Tigers, Lion tailed macaques, Nilgiri
langurs.
This is the only sanctuary in India where you can have the
unique experience of viewing wildlife at close quarters
from the safety of a boat on the lake. The greatest attraction
of Periyar remains the large herds of wild elephants that
come down to the lake's edge.

cruises in the lake.
Pamba Biological
Garden, Gavi
This is an Eco Tourism program sponsored by Gavi
Division of Kerala Forest Development Corporation, sprawled
over the basin of river Pamba at its origin.
Gavi, with more than 260 species of birds – the Malabar
Hornbills, Sunbirds, Woodpeckers, Kingfishers, Mynas and
Bulbuls is a heaven for bird-watchers. The forest has elephants,
Gaur, Sambar Deer, Barking Deer, Lion Tailed Macaque, Nilgiri
Langur, Nilgiri Thar, and the Majestic Tiger. Gavi also
has a vast array of Butterflies.
Access to Gavi is possible only on sturdy vehicles like
jeep and entry is restricted to visitors with advance booking.
The jeep ride takes you past hills, valleys, tropical forest,
sprawling grasslands, cascading waterfalls and cardamom
plantations. You might spot elephants, gaurs, lion-tailored
macaques and sambars on the way to Gavi.
Visitors can indulge in trekking, bird watching and paddle
in the still waters of the reservoir.

Vagamon Hill Station
and Kursumala Ashramam
Grass covered hills; velvet lawns and the cool
mountain air make Vagamon a perfect holiday retreat. A curious
blend of religious mysticism and European legacies, this
hillside village is haven of tranquility. The chain of three
hills - Thangal Hill, Murugan Hill and Kurisumala is a mark
of religious harmony. The dairy farm managed by the Kurisumala
monks is worth a visit.
It is a paradise for the seekers of peace and tranquility
and abundance of nature. The important tourist attractions
of Vagamon are the Kurisumala hill, which is ideal for trekking.
A small church over the top of the hill and the nearby Kurisumala
Ashramam are worthy of a visit. Kurisumala Ashramam is actually
a monastery for Christian ascetics, who have belief in the
Christianity along with the Indian spiritual beliefs and
the Gandhian thought.
Spice Tours and Elephant Safari
From cardamom to cinnamon, pepper to ginger and
even vanilla, you see an abundance of spices in the near
by spice gardens and plantations. We can organize spice
garden, tea factory, ayurveda herb factory visits and elephant
safari. Experience the spice plantation tour on an elephant,
bathing and being bathed by an elephant.

Trekking
Kuttikkanam village where the Homestay is situated
is a paradise for trekking, or even languorous, tranquil
break. This picturesque plantation town washed in the fragrance
of cardamom and tea is surrounded by lush-green, gentle
hills.
Thrissanku Hills: The rolling hills the lovely landscape
and the gentle breeze make this an ideal spot for long walks.
The hills offer a breathtaking view of the sunrise and the
sunset.
Peeru Hills: This idyllic hill station is a much loved haunt
of trekkers and picnic goers. The hill is named after Peer
Mohammed, the Muslim Sufi saint, who spent his last days
here.
Grampi: Is also known as Parunthupara (Eagle Rock) because
of the panoramic view from its high peaks. Rocky plains,
lush hillsides, forest trekking trails and picturesque views
lend charm to this destination.
